R v W


W was charged with murder. The prosecution opposed bail. Ben persuaded the Court to grant W bail, with conditions that allowed W to continue to care for his family.

R v M


M was charged with attempted murder and other violence charges. Ben persuaded the prosecutor to amend the charge of attempted murder to one of doing grievous bodily harm.

R v B


B was charged with murder. He was granted bail, but breached the conditions of his bail. Ben persuaded the Court to grant B further bail.



R v J


J was charged with creating an objectionable publication likely to cause violence. J pleaded guilty, and was facing a prison sentence. Ben persuaded the Court that a community-based sentence was appropriate.

R v C


C was part of a major methamphetamine trial. Ben’s work at trial meant C was acquitted on nearly half the charges, and Ben was able to secure a favourable sentence.

R v S


S was charged with supplying methamphetamine. The prosecution opposed bail. Ben persuaded the Court to grant bail on flexible conditions that allowed S to keep running their company.

R v S


S was charged with a violence offence, and found guilty by a jury. He faced deportation. Ben persuaded the Court that S should be discharged, and not convicted. S was not deported.

R v M


M was charged after a complaint by a violent, obsessive neighbour. Ben persuaded the prosecution that the charges were not in the public interest, and the charges were withdrawn.
